At a young age I knew that my love language was gifting. Whether it was bringing a flower I picked on the way to school for my teacher or making friendship bracelets for my entire class, I have
always tried to be thoughtful in my actions and let those I hold dear know how much they mean to me.

As I grew older it became apparent that I inherited this from my beautiful mother who has always been the most thoughtful and giving person that I know. She also instilled the love of shopping in me too!!

It was because of her giving trait that we began to discover her beginning stages of Alzheimer's. When she was in her early 60’s she slowly began to forget important dates, people’s birthdays and their special occasions which up until then was meticulous about remembering. She would also hide gifts that she had purchased and would forget where she hid them. When we finally had to move her to a memory care home we found her honey holes of hidden gifts throughout her house. It was a treasure trove of the most thoughtful things intended for her loved ones.

It seemed only natural when starting Great American Basket Company that we somehow recognized my beautiful mother. Alzheimer’s is a horrible disease that not only affects the patient but also all those who love them. That is why a donation from every basket sold at The Great American Basket Company will be given the Alzheimer's Association. Hopefully one day there will be a cure for this devastating disease.
